Myth: Tobacco is not a drug.
Fact: Tobacco contains nicotine, a drug which can cause dependence. Nicotine increases the heart rate, constricts the blood vessels, reduces the appetite, and changes many body functions.

Nicotine is found in cigars and cigarettes. That is what makes them so addictive. They are also carcinogenic, which means they can cause cancer. It also increases the level of 'ad' cholestorol. Even secondhand smoke containing nicotine is harmful. But people keep chewing or smoking it because it makes them feel good. Nicotine is a natural alkaloid, like caffiene. It works by releasing adrenaline and increases neurotransmitters like endorphins which make you happy.
